Join us for one of many upcoming fundraisers to advance our STEM/STEAM efforts into workforce training and entrepreneur resources to move citizens 18 and up into the new creative economy. Our program offers skills training in areas that correspond to various opportunities and paths within STEM/STEAM.

We will have food and refreshments while supporting a local owned business owned by a STEM Professional and Instructor, Mr. Fred Ellis.

Music will be provided by a local DJ/Artists.

We welcome cosplayers and Pan-African dress, although not required. The event is not formal, and there is no strict dress code. We are open and inclusive of all Shreveport residents and welcome all in celebrating African American History Month, the creative economy and our collect efforts to grow #SiliconBayou.

There is a $10 cover charge at the door that includes light refreshments.

Alcohol at the bar is separate.

What: Introduction to Computers

Want to know what skills are essential to repairing and maintaining computer systems? Come learn or brush up on your knowledge on computer repair, software & operating systems, network administration, information security, cloud computing, and troubleshooting of both desktops and mobile devices in this two hour workshop.

Ask not what your makerspace can do for you, but what you can do for your makerspace. We need your help building workbenches and painting. Get yourself out of bed and come join us for a productive session of the Makerspace Build Out.

What: NWLA Makerspace at GLOW3

When: 1 – 4 PM
Where: US National Weather Service Shreveport, 5655 Hollywood Ave, Shreveport LA

GLOW is a STEM event hosted by the US National Weather Service Shreveport Louisiana to raise awareness for the need for young women to pursue STEM careers.  Kids of all ages can get hands-on experience, meet women currently working in STEM fields, and pick up awesome freebies.

Where: Chipotle Mexican Grill, 7030 Youree Drive, Shreveport LA

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support NWLA Makerspace. Come in to the Chipotle at 7030 Youree Drive in Shreveport on Saturday, March 23rd between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to NWLA Makerspace.

What: NWLA Makerspace at Pride in the Park

Pride in the Park is a family friendly festival sponsored by PACE. This event will have food trucks on hand, various community booths to visit, vendors, and much more!

Come visit the NWLA Makerspace booth to learn more about what we are doing at the workshop and find out how you can donate or join the cause.

What: Cooper Road 90th Anniversary Celebration
When: 12 PM – 3 PM
Where: David Raines Park, 2920 Round Grove Ln, Shreveport, LA

Established as an African American town in Caddo Parish in 1928, Cooper Road was one of the largest African American communities in the country. Cooper Road was annexed into the city of Shreveport in 1977. Come help us celebrate the 90th anniversary of Cooper Road on Saturday, April 20. The parade, sponsored by Cooper Road USA, starts at 10 AM at Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy. Festivities continue at David Raines Park at 12 PM with informational tables, vendor booths, and fun for the whole family.
